Hen Heads

Identify subspecies by comparing hen heads. Look for differences in eye color, eye ring, and head shape. Use the ID table for specific differences in subspecies. Note: juvenile hen beaks begin yellow and turn black as they mature. Their eyes begin brown and lighten to creamy white, yellow or gold by subspecies as they age.
